Raising Children Who Walk Between Worlds

I originally wrote this for my dream group because mothers. especially. often reach out asking how to support their narcoleptic children. One of them asked me directly, and this response came through. It applies to all sleep disorders, and honestly, beyond them.

I’m sharing it here.

Also, side note: I do not prescribe to the pathology of "narcolepsy" any longer, now that I understand it for what it truly is: soulstream liminal consciousness of great power. We slip fields. Our brains are in the theta. We are dreaming while awake ... and the world needs it.



Mom:

Explaining symptoms. My child has been diagnosed, asking me about narcolepsy.

“What do I do? How can I help my child?”


Me:

(Trigger Warning: I am direct, fierce, and unapologetic in how I speak about this.)


Do you want the real answer?


Real as in root-cause: metaphysical meets physical meets lived reality?


Or are you looking to treat symptoms from fear?


Most of the time, it’s the latter.

And that’s okay.


My mom was scared too.


So my path included amphetamines -- because narcolepsy pharmaceuticals are stimulants meant to keep the brain awake during the day. Uppers. Caffeine analogues. Nervous system overrides. I don’t personally believe pharmaceuticals are good for the body or brain long-term — please research every drug deeply — but I also understand why they are used.


I was medicated while simultaneously doing my own soul work. While researching alternative therapies. While slowly learning how to be in my body and feel safe here. Over time, as my consciousness expanded and my nervous system stabilized, those alternatives became all I needed.


It was a long road.


And I don’t necessarily recommend it; especially if fear can be met and worked with first, and if the mystical dimensions can be acknowledged early rather than suppressed.


Western medicine is very good at explaining what is happening physically:

The brain.

The nervous system.

Neurotransmitters.

Genetic predispositions.


That knowledge matters. It helped me. When I was a teenager, they discovered the gene many of us carry. They identified hypocretin. This information is useful.


Where it becomes unhelpful is when these explanations turn into rigid identities;

When Spirit and Mystery are removed from the equation and the condition becomes a prison rather than a portal.


Eastern, Indigenous, Holistic, Herbal, and Earth-based medicines are where treatment truly lives for me, because they help us actually be here. Fully. Eventually unapologetically.


One of my mentors once said:

“Narcolepsy is a heavy responsibility and power to play with.”


Metaphysically, many things can be happening, and it is deeply individual. But across traditions, initiatory threads repeat:


 • Narcolepsy as initiation

 • Narcolepsy as “the reluctant shaman”

 • Being trained to allow dream states to pass through consciousness while awake

 • Learning to exist in multiple planes at once -- one foot here, one foot beyond the veil


From there, the expressions vary:


Some of us die in our sleep.

Some of us astral travel nightly.

Some are dream weavers and conscious clean‑up crews.

Some are asked to remember what others forget.

Some wake inside the void.

Some are constant healing channels.

Some of us help souls in transition.


And so much more.


The most supportive thing you can do as a child is let us sleep when we need to sleep.

Being so neutral here - No judgement toward the sleep or any behaviors that arise in the liminal.

Supporting our nervous system to land, to root and discover how it is meant to evolve (which is different from general population).

Including practices for the parasympathetic nervous system and integration on the regular.

And then ... invite us into mentorship.


Acceptance comes first:

Your child is extremely sensitive.

Highly aware.

Deeply perceptive.

Powerful, actually.


Then comes resourcing:

Sleep and nature are your greatest allies.


From there, exploration - not as a checklist, but as a living inquiry. These are not prescriptions. They are doorways:


 • Meditation & Channeling — Dharana and Dhyana

 • Yoga Nidra, Hypnosis, Brainwave work, Hypnagogic states

 • Nervous system regulation — Parasympathetic awareness, Vagus nerve support

 • Energy work of all kinds — Reiki, Craniosacral, Pranic Healing, Quantum Healing, SoulRest, etc.

 • Subtle body education — Chakras, Nadis, Meridians, Koshas, Toroidal Field, Earth Star to Soul Star

 • Shamanic mentorship — learning from elders and wisdom keepers

 • Dreamwork — journaling, interpretation, lucid dreaming, astral literacy

 • Nature immersion — barefoot walking, gardening, water, mud, hot springs

 • Sacred geography — vortexes, ancient sites, foraging, herbal walks

 • Herbalism — slow study, relational discovery

 • Diet — clean, organic, supportive rather than restrictive

 • Elemental work — trees, water, earth, fae, elemental intelligence

 • Aquatic bodywork & hydrostatic pressure (yes, I love swimming in mermaid tails)

 • Sound healing & drumming

 • Yin & Restorative Yoga

 • Occupational therapy & cross‑brain stimulation

 • Balancing masculine and feminine currents

 • Binaural beats & healing frequencies, especially at night


And beyond.


Please understand this above all:

Your child is not broken.

They are expanding.


They are a powerful force for good on this planet.


Help them stay here.

Help them feel safe.

Help them become what they already are.
